Kathmandu, Nepal: Responding to the call of the Nepali leaders, various delegates participated in the Nepal Investment Summit 2017 that kicked off on Thursday in Kathmandu have expressed their views that Nepal would be a lucrative destination for investment if some improvements are made in the managerial level.
Delivering a keynote President of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun said that AIIB was ready to help Nepal in using the natural resources of the country for developmental projects and work with the World Bank and the Investment Development Bank for the same.
During his speech, he highlighted the need of proper environment for the investment with determination to attract foreign investment in mega projects.
Another participant of the summit Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley also said that Nepal is a lucrative destination for investment.
‘India wished to see an economically strong Nepal,’ Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said adding that proper utilization of natural resources, investment opportunity in energy, agriculture, tourism and irrigation sectors is must for the development of Nepal.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the summit Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal urged the international community to invest in Nepal particularly in the hydropower sector claiming that peace and development were interconnected in the country.
The government has now focused on creating conducive investment opportunities in the country, Prime Minister Dahal had said in the summit.
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba underlined the need of economic development of Nepal by attracting foreign investment.
Another Nepali Congress leader and former Minister for Finance Ram Sharan Mahat also said that Nepal has offered enormous opportunities for the investors.
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli also underlined the need of foreign investment in mega projects for economic prosperity of Nepal.
Delivering a welcoming speech, Minister for Industry Nabindra Raj also urged the international communities to invest in Nepal.
Nepal is the most favorable place for the foreign investors as here is a greater freedom to the investors in comparison to any other country in the South Asian nations, Minister Joshi said.
Expressing his vision Minister Joshi claimed that in the next 10 years, no Nepali would have to fly abroad for job opportunities.
In the two day summit, over 250 foreign investors from over 24 countries including India, China, United States of America, United Kingdom, Finland, South Korea Australia, Japan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Russia, and Vietnam including the heads of different multinational companies and development partners working in Nepal are participating in Summit.
