Kathmandu, Nepal, October 28, 2020: Pathao, a ride sharing platform company, office at New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, has been vandalized by a group of disgruntled riders, who had been protesting putting forward several demands before the company.
The irate riders, who had reached at the office to negotiate with the company over their various demands on Monday afternoon, vandalized the office alleging the company management for not responding their demands.
Police have arrested about two dozen persons on the charge of involving in the vandalism.
Pathao bike riders had forwarded 11-point demands on December 21 demanding commission reduction, accident and treatment insurance, toll-free number of the company care centre, bike insurance, and no suspension without information.
The riders have been demanding to reduce commission by eight percent from the existing commission rate. The company has been receiving 20 percent as commission from the fare received from passengers.
However, the company has a claim that it has been charging 20 percent as per the international standard. Issuing a press release latter on Monday, the company has stated that international ride sharing companies have also been 20 percent as commission.
