Kathmandu, Nepal, June 14, 2022: Nepali film Kabaddi 4 has been dragged into controversies after leading actor Meruna Mangar slapped a monk, Phurba Lama, on the charge of touching her inappropriately during the premiere rush at a cinema hall in Kathmandu last month.

The Buddhist communities have protested the move even boycotting the movie. They have demanded action against the culprit even though the producer has already begged pardon on behalf of the slapper.

The Buddhist organizations in Sikkim have urged authorities to not release the film, which was scheduled to release on June 17 in Gangtok and Namchi of Sikkim.

According to reports, the Sikkim Lama Association has already urged the Sikkim’s Chief Minister PS Tamang to stop the film from release.

Addressing a press conference in Gangtok, Sikkimese Buddhist cleric Ondi Pinto had said that the lamas will take to the streets to protest if the film is released.

The association has demanded a public apology from the actress ‘for hurting the sentiments of Buddhist people’.
