Kathmandu, Nepal: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is leaving for a five-day long state visit to India today leading a 59-member Nepali delegation at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

The jumbo Nepali delegation comprises four cabinet ministers, 12 lawmakers, nine government secretaries and other senior official from different government agencies including some nearer and dearer of Prime Minister Deuba.

Primer Deuba is scheduled to meet various Indian leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and many others.

Nepali officials have said that Prime Minister Deuba will bold discussions on wide ranges of issues regarding the mutual interest between the neighboring countries. It is expected that the visit will help to add a new chapter in age old special ties between the two countries.

The historical relationship between the neighboring countries was soured after India imposed unofficial blockade in support of agitating Madhes based parties. However, Indian leaders do claim that neither the blockade was imposed nor the agitating launched by the Madhes based parties was supported.

As India had already lifted the blockade and Prime Minister Deuba also normalized the agitating Madhes based parties, it is expected that the recent visit of Prime Minister Deuba will help to make clear the previous misunderstandings to open the new chapter to strengthen the bilateral relationships between the neighboring countries.

As Prime Minister Deuba is also the president of the Nepali Congress, the only oldest democratic party of the country that had not only fought to establish democracy in Nepal but also helped to liberate India, Indian leaders including his counterpart Modi has given high preference to the recent visit of Prime Minister Deuba in comparison of previous Prime Ministers.

It is said that Prime Minister Deuba will begin his meeting with Indian leaders including his Indian counterpart only after attending in the ceremonial reception and inspection of a Guard of Honor at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Thursday.
