Agni Sapkota Recommended As Candidate Of The Speaker
  Kathmandu, Nepal      January 19 2020

Kathmandu, Nepal, January 19, 2019: The government head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has recommended its leader Agni Prasad Sapkota as the candidate for the speaker of the House of Representatives.

Following the agreement between party co-chair duo Pushpa Kamal Dahal and KP Sharma Oli, a secretariat meeting of the party took a decision to this effect on Sunday.

The meeting of the lower house of the federal parliament has repeatedly been postponing due to the differences within the ruling head NCP over the issue of candidate for the post of speaker.

The post had remained vacant after former speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara had resigned from the post after he faced the charge of sexual harassment against a woman employee of the parliament secretariat.

Sapkota was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Kavrepalchowk district. Sapkota is considered as the close confident of the NCP co- chairperson Dahal.
