Kathmandu, Nepal, Aug 29, 2019: Government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Baskota has claimed that no cabinet meeting had taken place through video conference.
Speaking at the meeting of House of Representatives on Thursday, Minister Baskota even alleged the critics for the exaggeration issue unnecessarily. We have just exchanged greetings with Prime Minister through video conference, Baskota claimed.
Baskota’s claim has come following the criticisms for the cabinet meeting of last Wednesday held through the video conferencing system. He also alleged the critics for exaggerating the matter unnecessarily.
It was not a cabinet meeting but we had just exchanged greetings with the prime minister, he said adding that no discussions were held in any agendas through the video conferencing system.
Not only the main opposition Nepali Congress but also the leaders from the Prime Minister Oli’s own party- Nepal Communist Party (NCP)- had been coming heavily against of the so-called cabinet meeting held through the video conferencing system.
However, Minister Baskota also defended the video conferencing meeting among the Prime Minister and ministers referring the instances of talks between the American and Russian presidents through the video conferencing system.
As the American and Russian presidents can hold talks through video conference, why can't it happen between Prime Minister and cabinet ministers, he questioned.
