Kathmandu, Nepal, July 8, 2020: Continuing the series of meeting with the leaders of the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi has met NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s residence in Khumaltar, Lalitpur, on Thursday.
Though the secretariat of Dahal has not made public about the meeting, reliable source close to Dahal said that the duo held one-on-one talks on ranges of issues concentrating over the recent factional war in the party.
As the ruling head NCP has reached on the verge to the vertical split due to the internal clash between the top leaders of the party, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou has intensified meeting with the NCP leaders.
As the meeting between Dahal and Hou is held just a day before the standing committee meeting, it is taken meaningfully in the party’s rank and file. The ongoing standing committee meeting was rescheduled to Friday after three consecutive postponements, thanks to the differences in the party.
As Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou has already met with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Oli, NCP senior leader duo Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal before having meeting with Dahal, it is widely believed that Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou would have made efforts to patch of the differences of the NCP.
