  Kathmandu, Nepal      September 16 2019

Kathmandu, Nepal, September 17, 2019: Conflict victims of the decade long insurgency launched on the name of Maoist movement have urged the government to replace the existing recommendation committee formed to suggest commissioners for the transitional justice (TJ) bodies.
During a meeting held at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs the conflict victims have demanded not only suspend the existing recommendation process but also suspend its work as well if the government wants to push the TJ process ahead by adhering the international norms and values.
However, the meeting did not reach into conclusion as Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal did not agree to address the concern of the conflict victims. Minister Dahal had a claim that the government would not backtrack from its decision.
The government had formed a recommendation committee under the leadership of former chief justice Om Prakash Mishra to suggest commissioners for two commissions-Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP).
