Death Toll Reaches 21, Eight More Missing Due To Incessant Rainfall

Kathmandu, Nepal, July 13, 2019: Death toll has reached 21 due to floods and landslides triggered by the incessant rainfall for the past three days in eastern and central parts of the country. According to the reports eight others have also gone missing. 

Thousands of people have been affected and properties worth of billions of rupees have lost in the flood-affected areas in different parts of the country. People have been stranded due to the blockade of roads due to the landslides in different parts of the country. 

Those killed in the floods and landslides includes three persons each in Kathmandu and Khotang districts, two each in Bhojpur, Jhapa, Okhaldhunga and Kavre district and one each in Ilam, Parsa, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Makawanpur, Lalitpur and Dhading and districts. 

Similarly, eight persons including two in Khotang and Rautahat, and one each in Panchthar, Mahottari, Morang Sunsari Makawanpur and Kathmandu districts are missing in the floods.

According to the Department Of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) the incessant rainfall would continue till Sunday. The DHM has also urged one and all to stay on alert by sending mass SMS alerts regarding the possible incessant rainfall.
