Dissident UML and Maoist leaders boycott all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Oli

Kathmandu, Nepal, April 17, 2021: An all-party meeting called by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has ended after holding discussions on ranges of striking issues emerged ahead of the country including the recent spiking of coronavirus infection across the country. 

Prime Minister Oli had on Friday called an all-party meeting at his official residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu. 

Though top leaders of the different political parties represent in the federal parliament were invited in the meeting, leaders from the dissident faction of the ruling UML led by Madhav Kumar Nepal and CPN (Maoist Center) did not present in the meeting. 
   
Nepali Congress’s president Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal Co-chair Mahantha Thakur, and among others present in the meeting.

During the meeting, Prime Minister K Oli expressed his dissatisfaction over the role of the Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota for denying speeding up the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), multibillion assistance from the US government, in the parliament.
