Downpour Creates Havoc in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal, September 7, 2021: Heavy downpour occurred on Sunday night has created havoc in different parts of the country, particularly in Kathmandu valley. 

Several areas in Kathmandu valley, particularly the areas at Kandaghari, Bizulibazar, Kalopul, Teku, Balkhu and Sundarighat of Kathmandu and Manohara, Sanepa and Bodefant of Lalitpur and Sukumbasi Basti of Bhaktapur district have been submerged by the floods. 

As almost all the areas along side of the rivers and rivulets in Kathmandu were submerged damaging billions of properties. According to police, as many as 385 households in the Kathmandu Valley have been displaced by the floods. 

The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecasted that the rainfall would continue until Wednesday.  According to the division, rain is expected in few places of Province 1, Bagmati, Lumbini, Gandaki, Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces.
