EC Refuses Urge To Stop Poll Preparation
  Kathmandu, Nepal      January 12 2021

Kathmandu, Nepal, January 12, 2020: Chairperson duo of a splinter faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal urged the Election Commission (EC) to stop preparation for mid-term election.

Chairperson duo made the urge by reaching out at the EC on Monday. During the meeting with the office bearers of the EC, the chairmen duo had made a claim that there is no necessary to make preparation for the mid- term election.

As dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) was sub judice, the EC should stop its meaningless preparation for the mid-term polls, the splinter faction of the ruling NCP said. The government had on December 20 dissolved the HoR and announced mid-term polls for April 30 and May 10.

The EC office bearers, however, refused to stop preparation being made for holding the mid-term election. We are obliged to make preparation for the election as the election date has already been announced by the government, the EC office bearers had said.
