Executive Chairman Dahal had proposed to form the taskforce comprising members Madhav Kumar Nepal, Subash Nembang and Khimlal Devkota. It is said that the panel was formed under an agreement to keep it under wraps.

Dahal led faction is working hard to nominate Gautam as upper house member to pave the way to project him as a prime minister though the constitution provision bars an upper house member from becoming prime minister.

Dahal wants to present Gautam as the alternative candidate of the Prime Minister with the motive to bolster his strength in both the parliament and party though he was defeated in the 2017 parliament poll from Bardiya.
