Foreign Minister Saud emphasizes on the need of addressing the challenges posed by climate change

Washington DC, USA, September 18, 2023 Foreign Minister NP Saud has addressed the Parliamentarians Network for a Fossil Fuel Future, a program held in Washington DC, USA on Sunday.

Addressing the program as a keynote speaker in the capacity of the president of a least developed country, Foreign Minister Saud mentioned that the challenge of developing an action plan for future generations to deal with the seriousness of the effects of climate change has emerged in a coordinated manner.

During the address, he also appealed to the developed countries to provide a leadership role to the developing countries in dealing with the effects of climate change.

He also emphasized the need that the developing countries should provide 100 billion in the Green Climate Fund as promised and that amount should be doubled by 2025.

Meanwhile, foreign minister Saud also held a meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General for Politics and Peacekeeping Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo.

During the meeting held on Sunday, the duo discussed matters related to world peace and security. Various other initiatives to be taken for the establishment of peace were also discussed, according to the Permanent Mission of Nepali to the United Nations.

On the occasion, Foreign Secretary Bharatraj Paudyal, Head of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations Lok Bahadur Thapa and others were present.
