Former Lawmaker Of Nepal Sent To Jail For Taking Bribe

Kathmandu, Nepal, September 5, 2019: Absconding former lawmaker Dol Bahadur (DB) Karki has been sent to jail on Thursday. 
 
A team of Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Karki and sent to the Central Jail, Dillibazaar following the order of the Kathmandu District Court.
 
Following the arrest, he was presented at Kathmandu District Court seeking order for implementation of the verdict issued by the Supreme Court.
 
Upholding the verdict of the Special Court, the Supreme Court on July 1, 2018, had slapped him fine of Rs 100,000 fine and six months imprisonment.
 
Karki, who originally hails from Syangja and currently living at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, Kalanki, was charged of taking a bribe of Rs 100,000 from Raj Kumar Rai on August 30, 2010, alluring the latter of the job to the post of the police inspector.  
 
Following the SC order, Karki had been absconding to avert the arrest of the police.
