Former Parliamentarian Ranabhat passes away at the age of 69

Kathmandu, Nepal, February 22, 2021: Former Member of Parliament (MP) Eknath Ranabhat, who was also a leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) passed away at the age of 69 while undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College on Monday. 

Ranabha was hospitalized 16 days ago after he suffered from a stroke. He breathed his last at 2: pm while receiving treatment at the hospital. He is survived by his spouse, a daughter and a son. 

He was elected to the House of Representatives during the 2056 BS election from the Chitwan Constituency-2. He was a permanent resident of Pithuwa of Ratnanagar Municipality-14 in Chitwan district.

Ranabhat, who was born on November 13, 1952 at Bhatkhola of Syangja, was also the district secretary of the NC, former chairman of the Landless Squatters' Problems Solution Commission.

Various leaders from the center to local levels have expressed their grief in the demise of Ranabhat.
