Kathmandu, Nepal, May 30, 2020: Constitution amendment bill has been tabled at the federal parliament for discussion on Sunday.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shivamaya Tumbahangphe tabled again the bill for discussions on behalf of the government. Earlier, about ten days ago, she had tabled the bill at the parliament.
However, the bill was removed from the business schedule of parliament at the last minute at the request of the government.
The reason behind the removal from the business schedule of parliament was pointed to the main opposition party Nepali Congress.
However, the NC has on Saturday officially decided to vote in favor of the constitution amendment bill clearing the doubt that the party was in favor of the constitution amendment bill tabled by the government.
As the government introduced a new political map that includes Kalapani, Lipu Lekh and Limpiyadhura of Darchula district, it has to be endorsed from the parliament through at least two-thirds majority vote to amend the Schedule 3 of the constitution that has provisioned about the map of Nepal.
