Govt. Sends Diplomatic Notes To India

Kathmandu, Nepal, September 7, 2021: The government has sent a diplomatic note to India regarding the death of Jaya Singh Dhami, 33, of Khaldang, Malghat in Byas Rural Municipality of Darchula district on July 30; while crossing the Mahakali River through an improvised cable crossing, which is known as tuin.

It is alleged that Dhami was killed after Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) detached the metal cable from a tree supporting the cable. Though the India government has claimed of unaware of the incident, the locals and eyewitness have claimed that Dhami had fallen and disappeared in the river after SSB detached the Tuin.   

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has sent the diplomatic note to the India through Indian embassy in Kathmandu. Though the government has not revealed the contents mentioned in the diplomatic note, source claim that immediate investigation of the incident and prompt actions against the perpetrators have been demanded through the diplomatic note.    

As a probe team formed by the Nepal government to study the incident had submitted a report to the Home Minister Balkrishna Khand on August 31, the Ministry had written a letter to the Foreign Ministry on Thursday with the reference of the study report.
