Kathmandu, Nepal, April 19, 2021: Shankar Pokhrel, Chief Minister (CM) of Lumbini Province, has successfully averted his own risk of shacking out from the post by appointing as ministers to those lawmakers who had signed in the no-confidence motion registered in the parliament.
In dramatic move on Monday, Chief Minister Pokharel appointed four lawmakers of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) as ministers. The newly appointed ministers include Bijaya Yadav, Suman Rayamajhi, Santosh Pandey and Kalpana Pandey.
Earlier, all the four lawmakers from the JSPN had signed in the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Pokharel filed jointly by Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Center).
Following the development, Chief Minister Pokharel reshuffled his cabinet to induct ministers from the JSP. Earlier, Ministers, Kul Prasad KC and Sudarshan Baral, who represents the CPN (Maoist Center), had resigned from the post with the motive to proceed the no-confidence motion.
With the JSP’s decision to join in the government, the fate of no-confidence motion would fall uncertain as the provincial government bags majority strength now in the parliament. UML lawmakers close to Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction holds decisive role to determine the fate of the no-confidence motion registered in the parliament.
