Kathmandu, Nepal, July 15, 2020: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has issued a strong worded statement on Wednesday to condemn the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent statements regarding the Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Rama.
The Prime Minister Oli has lost authority to rule the country if the comments made by him do not represent the view of the government and the ruling party, states the press statement issued in the sign of the party’s Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma.
The Nepali Congress has also demanded official views of the government and the ruling party to clarify that whether the Prime Minister Oli’s expressions represent the voice of the government and party or not.
The Nepali Congress demanded the clarifications from the government and the party at the time when Prime Minister Oli’s statement over the issue of Ajodhya is widely criticized from different sectors even casting a doubt that continuation of the incumbent government would harm the historic relationship with the neighboring countries, particularly the India.
Responding to the widespread condemnation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) had on Tuesday issued a statement stating that the statement of Prime Minister Oli does not necessarily represent the political statement. However, the government head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has not responded yet over the statement.
The Prime Minister should have initiated diplomatic approach to claim the territories depicted in the new political map of the country instead making a controversial comment on Ayodhya, reads the statement.
Prime Minister Oli had made a statement at a public function on Monday that the birthplace of lord Rama was in Ayodhya of Nepal that locates near to Birgunj city of Nepal but not India. During his address, he had also accused India of creating artificial Ayodhya to claim that Rama was born in India.
