Kathmandu, Nepal, August 12, 2020: Journalist Balaram Baniya has been found dead in Hetauda of Makawapur district on Wednesday. He had gone missing since Monday afternoon from Kathmandu.
The Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD) has confirmed that Baniya’s dead body was found near the Mando Hydropower Project site in Hetauda. According to SSP Deepak Thapa at MCD his body has been kept at the Hetauda Hospital for autopsy.
It is said that Baniya, who orgially hails from Tanahu district, was last seen at Balkhu Chowk in Kathmandu at 3:45 pm on Monday. He had also contacted to his office- Kantipur Publications- at around 1:00 pm over the issue of an article. Since then he had remained out of contact.
Journalist Baniya, who used to write on the issue of bureaucracy and governance, was affiliated to the Kantipur Publications for two decades. He had also briefly affiliated to the Nagarik Daily. He is survived by two daughters, a son and wife.
