Kathmandu, Nepal, January 23, 2022: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has recognized the Nepali Congress (NC), the largest party in the parliament as the main opposition party.
Sending a letter to the Nepali Congress’s Parliamentary Party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday the Parliament Secretariat has informed the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader would receive service facilities as the leader of the opposition party.
As the Nepali Congress had voted in favor of the vote of confidence motion of the incumbent Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal led government on January 10, there had been a dispute over the NC’s status as an opposition party.
Responding to the disputes, the Nepali Congress had written a letter to the Federal Secretariat seeking the status of opposition party and facilities. Nepal workers and peasant party had also claimed the main opposition party status in the parliament.
