NCP Recommends Vice-Chair Gautam As National Assembly Member
  Kathmandu, Nepal      February 26 2020

Kathmandu, Nepal, February 26, 2020: The ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has recommended its vice-chair Bamdev Gautam’s name as a member of National Assembly.

A secretariat meeting of the party held Wednesday decided to recommend Gautam as a member of National Assembly replacing incumbent Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada.

Khatiwada was appointed as the National Assembly member under the quota allocated to the president.  His two year tenure is going to expires on March 3.

As per the constitutional provision, the President will appoint the national Assembly member on the recommendation of the government.

Gautam’s recommendation to appoint as National Assembly member is believed as the plan to present his as the alternative candidate of the Prime Minister.

However, existing constitutional provision does not allow to the national assembly member to be the prime minister.
