Nepali Congress condemns government’s haste move for issuing a clarification on the alleged encroachment of Nepal’s territory by China in Humla district

Kathmandu, Nepal, September 25, 2020: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has condemned the haste move of the government for issuing a clarification on the alleged encroachment of Nepal’s territory by China in Humla district. 

The NC condemned so by issuing a press statement in the sign of party Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma on Friday. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) made a hasty comment refusing allegation of encroachment of Nepali territory by China before government authorities that visited the disputed site in Humla submitted their report, states the press release. 

The Ministry has made haste for issuing a clarification on the alleged encroachment of Nepal’s territory by China in Humla district without waiting for the report from local authorities that visited the disputed site, the statement states further.

There were a widespread media reports even in the quote of local people that China has encroached Nepali land by constructing 11 buildings in Lapcha Limi Area of Namkha Rural Municipality of Humla district.

The MoFA, however, had issued a press release on Thursday referring to the basis of official records confirmed by the Department of Survey and reports of field inspection and boundary maps that the buildings built by China were not the Nepali territory.

According to NC Spokesperson Sharma, party’s Central Committee member and leader of the NC Parliamentary Party in Karnali Province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi was enquiring about the issue while he was in Humla district.
