  Kathmandu, Nepal      February 15 2021

Kathmandu, Nepal, February 15, 2021: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has organized protest rallies and demonstration against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) in all 77 districts on Monday.

The NC has been staging a series of protests and demonstrations against the dissolution of HoR terming the government’s decision as unconstitutional move.

Various leaders including President Sher Bahadur Deuba have addressed the rallies organized in all the districts. A huge protest rallies was organized at Basantupr area of Kathmandu.

While addressing a rally in Butwal NC president Deuba raised serious question marks over the commitment of the government and the Election Commission (EC) for holding the elections on scheduled time frame.

The government has announced the midterm elections for coming April 30 and May 10. However, nothing preparations are made yet to hold the elections in the scheduled time frame.

As the EC has failed even to settle the authenticity debate of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), NC President Deuba expressed serious doubt over the commitment of the election body to hold the midterm elections. Since the EC has failed even to settle the authenticity debate of the NCP how can it hold elections on time, Deuba said.

The EC should have published the election calendar of events by settling the authenticity debate of the NCP if it was really committed for the timely election, Deuba said.
