Nepali Congress Lawmaker Thapa Demands Change of Prime Minister Citing Prolonged Absence

Kathmandu, Nepal, September, 4, 2019: A lawmaker from the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) Gagan Thapa has urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to take rest considering to the prolonged absence of executive head, poor health condition and huge workload pressure. 

Speaking at the special hour of the parliamentary session on Wednesday, lawmaker Thapa, who is also the Central Committee member of the Nepali Congress, urged the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to present an alternative to the Prime Minister Oli and give him a rest as soon as possible.
Prolonged absence of country's executive head would have adverse impact in the governance particularly, to the entire national security and diplomatic dealings, Thapa said. 

As the NCP holds a two-thirds majority, it should not delay to pick someone else as the prime minister considering to the huge workload pressure and poor health condition of Prime Minister Oli despite his strong will power to lead the government, Thapa argued. 

The lawmakers from the main opposition party, Nepali Congress demanded change of government head citing prolonged absence of Prime Minister Oli in the mean time when other section of the society have also raised similar demand. 

Prime Minister Oli has been receiving treatment of kidney related ailments in Singapore since two weeks.
