Kathmandu, Nepal, July 7, 2024: The Nepali Congress (NC), the largest party in the parliament, has reiterated that the new government will be formed according to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
New coalition government will be formed under the leadership of UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli in accordance with Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak said while speaking to the media after the NC Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting at the Parliament Building on Saturday.
NC Chief Whip Lekhak has said so at the time when speculations were widespread that Nepali Congress would form a new government according to Article 76 (3) of the Constitution. Article 76 (2) has made provision of majority based government while to Article 76 (3) has made provision of government on the basis of largest party in the parliament.
The Nepali Congress and UML have already made an agreement to form a new government. Following the decision, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has also decided to take a vote of confidence from the parliament.
