Kathmandu, Nepal, January 19, 2020: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that a fresh mandate is must for peace, stability and development in the country.
It is necessary to conduct the elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) on the slated dates, President Bhandari said while receiving the annual report of the Election Commission (EC) amid a program organized at the Office of President, Sheetal Niwas on Monday.
During the program, President Bhandari also expressed her confidence that the EC would be capable to conduct the election in a free, reliable and fearless environment.
The EC would work seriously and with determination to institutionalize and strengthen democracy through the medium of periodic election, President Bhandari stated.
President Bhandari also suggested the EC to ensure maximum participation of voters in the election by guaranteeing the franchise of all voters.
The President has announced the elections to the HoR for April 30 and May 10 in the recommendation of the government.
