Kathmandu, Nepal, March 20, 2020: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli delivered a special address to the nation today over the issue of global threat of spreading coronavirus.
In the televised address on Friday evening, Prime Minister Oli announced to restrict international incoming flights from March 22 to 31 to contain the spreading fear of coronavirus.
Likewise, the government has also banned long distance vehicles from plying the roads from March 23 until further notice.
During his address, Prime Minister Oli also urged one and all to make necessary changes in their daily lives incorporating precautionary measures. He urged people to stay at home, wash hands regularly, avoid gatherings, maintain a safe distance during conversations, and to stop hoarding necessary items.
Prime Minister Oli also said that the government has arranged necessary preparation to contain the spreading fear of coronavirus by mobilizing highly motivated health professionals, security personnel and others.
Prime Minister Oli also hinted for a relief package to the business sectors affected from the spreading fear of coronavirus. The government will come up with special program to address the issues as per recommendations made by the Ministry of Finance; Prime Minister Oli said adding that the finance minister has been analyzing the situations.
Likewise, he also announced to contribute NRs 100 million to the SAARC COVID-19 emergency fund as proposed by Indian PM Narendra Modi during the recently held SAARC ‘video-summit.’
