Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav of JSP Nepal elected as the vice president of Nepal

Kathmandu, Nepal, March, 17, 2023: Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has been elected as the new vice-president of Nepal. 

Common candidate of eight party ruling alliances Yadav elected in the vice president post by securing 30,328 votes.  According to an election officer, 329 provincial assembly members and 184 federal parliamentarians voted for Yadav. 

Another candidate from the main opposition party CPN UML Astalaxmi Shakya was voted by 169 provincial assembly members and 104 federal parliamentarians.  

Similarly, 15 provincial assembly members and 23 federal parliamentarians voted for Janamat Party candidate Mamata Jha. 

Another JSP candidate Pramila Yadav has received one vote from a province assembly member though she had announced the withdrawal of her candidacy to support Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav.
