Rescue Team Traces Possible Site Of Missing Korean Trekkers and Nepali Guides

Pokhara, Nepal, January 23, 2020: The rescue team led by the Nepal Army has traced the possible site of four South Korean missing trekkers and three Nepali guides at Deurali area of Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 in Kaski district. 

The rescue team mobilized in a helicopter with a high-tech device comprising Sherpas, South Korean rescuers and family members of the missing Nepali guides including the Nepal Army personnel have reached on the conclusion that the missing Korean trekkers and Nepali guides would have trapped in a deep gorge at the area. 

According to the rescue team, a dog of the Nepal Army has also identified the gorge as the location of those missing trekkers and Nepali guides. However, the rescue team has failed to find the body due to the hardened snow piled up about 15meters thick in the gorge. 

The team had on Wednesday dug out about six meters in the gorge but failed to find the bodies due to the harden snow. It is said that the team will continue its effort to dig out the snow even on Thursday.
