Kathmandu, Nepal, September 11, 2020:  The long prevailed internal differences of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) seems to be settled for now, thanks to the leaders for the understanding to bury the internal rivalry by dividing the posts and positions among them.

As the Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the party held on Friday formally settled the work division of chairmen duo Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, it is believed that power tussle among the two chairs of the party would not emerge again. The meeting held at Prime Minister Oli’s official resident has made the decision to this effect.

According to the party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar on Friday decided that executive chairman Dahal will handle the party issues while another chairman and Prime Minister Oli will focus on the government affairs. As per the decision, the government shall mandatorily hold discussions within the party while deciding on issues of national importance.

However, the issues over the division of ministerial posts are not settled yet. The taskforce formed under the leadership of party’s general secretary Bishnu Poudel has already recommended that the cabinet shall be reshuffled to include the leaders from the dissident factions.
