Bangkok – The sixth BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Summit commenced today, Friday, in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
The summit, held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok, was inaugurated with a welcome address by the Prime Minister of the host nation, Thailand, Srettha Thavisin, who extended greetings to the heads of delegations from the member states.
The summit will feature addresses by the Prime Ministers and heads of delegations from the BIMSTEC member countries, including Thailand, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, along with Nepal's Prime Minister, Mr. K P Sharma Oli.
Prior to the formal addresses, the member states signed the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Cooperation agreement.
