Kathmandu, Nepal, July 8, 2020: The much more anticipated Standing Committee meeting of the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has been postponed yet again for the thirds consecutive time.
The meeting, scheduled for 11 am today (Wednesday), has been postponed till coming Friday or 10th July, 2020. The meeting will be held on Friday or July 10 at 11 am, NCP’s Deputy Chief of the International Relations Department, said. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s press aide, Surya Thapa has also informed about the postponement of the meeting.
Earlier, the standing committee meeting scheduled for Saturday was postponed for Monday and Monday’s meeting was deferred for Wednesday with the aim to reach on consensus among the chairs of the party.
However, one-to-one meeting held at this around including of Tuesday between the chairman duo Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal failed to find solution of the differences. It is said that both the chairs have agreed to continue the dialogue.
The ruling head CP has reached in the verge to vertical split after party’s senior leaders and majority of the standing committee members have demanded resignation of Oli from both the posts as Prime Minister and party chairman. Party’s senior leaders Madav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal and Bam Dev Gautam have been backing Dahal.
