Supreme Court Refuses To Issue Stay Order On The Case On Speaker Sapkota
  Kathmandu, Nepal      January 28 2020

Kathmandu, Nepal, January 28, 2020: The Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, has refused to issue a stay order over the writ petition filed against newly elected speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota.

A single bench of Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan refused to issue stay order over the writ petition filed by advocate Dinesh Tripathi.

However, the SC has asked the government to provide details regarding the investigation being carried out against Sapkota in connection with the killing of Arjun Lama in Kavre district during the insurgency period.

Following the decision of the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to pick Sapkota as speaker, advocate Tripathi had moved the SC demanding the immediate arrest of him on the murder case of Lama.
