Kathmandu, Nepal, February 23, 2021: The Supreme Court (SC) has on Tuesday made a landmark verdict by reinstating the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR).
A five-member Constitutional Bench formed under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR passage the verdict annulling the government’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR).
The CJ Raal led bench comprises the SC justices Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha, Anil Kumar Sinha, Sapana Malla and Tej Bahadur KC.
With the verdict, the Supreme Court has also ordered the government to summon the House session within the next 13 days.
Responding to the recommendation of the government, the president President Bidya Dev Bhandari had dissolved parliament On December 20, 2020.
Challenging the government’s decision to dissolve the parliament, 13 different writ petitions were registered at the SC seeking reinstate of the dissolved parliament.
