Kathmandu, Nepal, October 4, 2019: US ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry has called on government head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) senior leader Jhalanath Khanal at the latter’s residence in Dallu, Kathmandu on Friday.
During the meeting, the duos hold discussions on ranges of issues concentrating to the recent political situation of the country. Likewise, the issues related to the Indo-Pacific Strategy introduced by the USA were also featured during the discussion.
Responding to the recent concerns over the Indo-Pacific Strategy introduced by the USA, US ambassador Berry said that the Indo-Pacific Strategy introduced by the USA does not aim to create any military alliance.
As Nepal is the independent country, it deserves the right to take sides the strategy or not, the US ambassador Berry said while making clear the objectives of Indo-Pacific Strategy.
According to the NCP leader Khanal, who is also the former Prime Minister, US ambassador Berry said ‘the Indo-Pacific Strategy is neither a military alliance nor a political group.
