Kathmandu, Nepal, October 21, 2020: Nepal has on Wednesday recorded highest ever single-day deaths from coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. 

As twenty six more coronavirus related fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours in the country, total number of death related to the coronavirus infection reached to 791.

Likewise, Nepal registered 5,743 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. With the new addition, nationwide tally reached to 144,872.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHA), there are currently 44,476 active cases of infection across the country. 

Dr. Jageshowr Gautam, spokesperson for the ministry said during a virtual press briefing on Wednesday that among the active cases, 14,676 patients are in institutional isolation, 29,800 are in home isolation and 4,065 people are staying at quarantine facilities across the country.

Likewise, 2,996 people, who had earlier contracted with the disease, have been discharged after they tested negative in the last 24 hours.  With the new addition, total recovery cases have reached to 99,605.

Among the newly infected cases, 3,107 new cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in the three districts of Kathmandu Valley alone.
