Kathmandu, Nepal, March 3, 2023: Nepal-China Coordination Mechanism on Border Trade meeting held in Lhasa, Tibet on Sunday has concluded with the positive note on resuming the stalled trade between the two neighboring countries.

During the meeting Nepal requested the China to resume Kathmandu-Lhasa direct flight that has remained closed due to COVID-19 since 2020.  Nepal made the request believing that resumption of the flights would help further expand tourism and trade between the two countries.

Chinese side seems positive to open all trade channels with Nepal when we requested to resume the air service, Joint Secretary at the Ministry Narayan Prasad Regmi, who is also the spokesperson of the ministry, said.

As there is no direct flight from Lhasa-Kathmandu, air services are currently being connected to Kathmandu-Chengdu-Lhasa and Lhasa-Chengdu-Kathmandu in a roundabout route.
