Kathmandu, Nepal, August 8, 2022: The documentary film 'Sahayak Sriman' (Co-Husband) that portrays about Nepal’s unique polygamy culture has won the 'Best International Documentary Award' in the USA. 

The award was announced amid the ceremony held on the last day of the 8th Annual Cobb International Film Festival in Atlanta, USA on August 7, 2022. 

The ceremony was begun from August 4, 2022. According to Richard Tavernaro, the director of the Cobb International Film Festival, only 70 documentary films were selected for the competition for this year from about 600 films.

After receiving the award, Ganesh Panday, the director of the documentary, said ‘winning of this award by the documentary film made in Nepal is a matter of pride for Nepal and the Nepali people.

‘I believe this will make Nepal proud in the international level,’ Pande said. The film Co-Husband has already won seven international awards. 

The 35-minute long documentary film was shot in Karnali region on the basis of the prevailing polygamy culture in the region, particularly in Humla district. 

The documentary film was written by director Pande himself while produced by Sign Media Pvt Ltd..

Earlier, Pandey's much-loved documentary 'Bhagyale Bahekaru' had won the best documentary award at the Marietta Film Festival in America.
