Kathmandu, Nepal, October 18, 2021: The Nepali football team has arrived in Nepal after clinching the first runner-up title in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship-2021 held in Maldives.
The Nepali football team has returned home after more than a month. The Nepali football team had gone to Qatar on September 10 to prepare for the SAFF.
After about two weeks long training, the Nepali football team had reached in Maldives on September 27 to play the SAFF Championship.
Senior officials of the at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Ministry of Youths and Sports including Minister Maheshwor Jang Gahatraj had reached at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) to received the Nepali football team.
Nepali football lovers and office bearers of different football club had thronged at the TIA to welcome the Nepali football team.
As Nepal reached the final for the first time in the 28-year history of the SAFF Championship, the victory is highly applauded from different sectors.
Nepal finished second in the SAFF Championship after 3-0 defeat with India in the final match on last Saturday night.
Nepal, however, had defeated Maldives by 1-0 and Sri Lanka by 3-2 and lost to India 0-1 in the league stage. Likewise, Nepal, reached the final after it drew with Bangladesh.
In the SAAF tournament, Nepal, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh had participated.
