Kathmandu, Nepal, October 8, 2020: Kathmandu valley, the capital city of Nepal, alone recorded 2,540 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours.
This is the single day record high of coronavrus infection in Kathmandu valley.
With the new addition, total number of coronavirus infection in Kathmandu valley reached to 36,089.
Among the newly recorded cases in Kathmandu valley, 2,085 were in Kathmandu, 135 in Bhaktapur and 320 in Lalitpur district, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHA) said during a virtual press briefing on Thursday.
According to MoHA, 4,364 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded across the country in the past 24 hours. Among the newly recorded cases, Kathmandu valley alone covers about fifty percent.
Likewise, it is stated during the press briefing that 2,675 people, who were tested positive for the virus, have been discharged after recoveries in the last 24-hours. So far 71,343 people have recovered from the coronavirus infection.
Similarly, the MoHA also recorded twelve new fatalities related to the coronavirus across the country including five in Kathmandu valley. With the new addition, Nepal’s death toll due to the infection of coronavirus reached to 590.
