Kathmandu, Nepal, October 2, 2020: Coronavirs (COVID-19) infection tally breaks single day record high in the country including in Kathmandu valley on Friday. 
 
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has stated on Friday that it recorded 2,722 coronavirus infection cases in the past 24 hours from throughout the country. With the new addition, Nepal's COVID-19 tally reached to 82,450.

Of the newly recorded infection cases, Kathmandu valley alone recorded 1,638 new cases, which stands about 60 percent out of total infection cases in the country. 

The latest spike rate of coronavirus in Kathmandu has left a clear signal that the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, has turned as the hotspot for the coronavirus infection. 

According to Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the ministry, 2,722 new cases were detected through 14,749 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests conducted at various labs across the country in past 24 hours.

During the virtual press briefing, Spokesperson Gautam also stated that 3,307 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours.

With the new addition, Nepal’s recovery rate stands as 60,696. There are currently 21,234 active cases of coronavirus across the country.

Likewise, death toll due to the infection of coronavirus reached to 520 after 11 deaths related to coronavirus reported in the past 24 hours.
