Kathmandu, Nepal, October 4, 2020: Nepal’s coronavirus (COVID-19) tally reached to 86,823 after 2,253 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.

Among the newly recorded coronavirus cases, 1,599 were from the Kathmandu valley alone. This is the second single day record high of coronavirus infections in Kathmandu valley. The valley alone had logged highest ever single-day cases of coronavirus infection on October 2 with 1,638 new cases.

According to Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry for the Heath and Population (MoHP), Kathmandu district alone witnessed 1,373 new infections while 187 in Lalitpur and 39 in Bhaktapur. The latest data suggests that the surge of coronavirus infections is steady rising inside the valley since few weeks.

During the virtual press briefing, spokesperson Gautam also stated that 2,253 new cases were recorded while conducting 12,784 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test in the past 24 hours.

Likewise, death toll due to the infection of coronavirus reached to 535 after seven more deaths related to COVID-19 reported in the past 24 hours.
 
Similarly, 1,329 people, who had earlier tested positive for the virus, discharged after recovery. With the new addition, Nepal’s COVID-19 recovery tally stands at 64,069.
