Kathmandu, Nepal, January 2, 2023: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has gained 0.86 percent or 17.56 points to close at 2,063.83 points on Monday, the second trading day of the week.  

Continuing the increasing trend, the NEPSE index had increased by 17.26 points on the first trading day of the week on Sunday. 

The NEPSE index opened at 2,047.46 points made an intraday low of 2,028.32 and intraday high of 2,070.58 points before closing at 2,063.83 points.

A total of 8,271,355 shares of 253 scrips were traded via 48,503 transactions to make Rs. 2.960 Arba in turnover amount. This is lower than the last trading day's turnover of Rs. 4.048 Arba.

Nabil Bank Limited (NABIL) made the highest turnover of Rs. 16.84 crores with closing at a market price of Rs. 739 per share while the shares of Universal Power Company Limited (UPCL) traded the most.

Similarly, Shrijanshil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SHLB) and Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (DLBS), KLBS and AIL gained the highest 10 percent each and hit a positive circuit for the day while the NMB 50 (NMB50) lost the highest by 4.80 percent.

Only three sector indices out of total 13 sector indices closed red while other closed green. "Trading" sector indices gained the highest by 3.52 percent while the "Others" sector indices lost the highest by 1.52 percent.
