Kathmandu, Nepal, January 30, 2023: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has declined by 1.89 percent or 41.01 points and closed at 2,127.52 points from the last trading day's closing on Monday.
Following the decreasing trend the NEPSE losses in the second consecutive day on Monday as well. The NEPSE index had lost by 14.68 points on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.
The share investors and traders seem to have waited the quarterly review of the monitory policy of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal. It is said that the NRB is in the process to make public the quarterly review of the monitory policy.
The NEPSE index opened at 2,166.31 points made an intraday high of 2,174.66 points and intraday low at 2,124.83 points ultimately closing at 2,127.52 points.
A total of 8,836,488 shares amounting to Rs. 3.302 Arba in turnover amount were exchanged through 256 scrips traded hands and 57,126 transactions. However, Monday’s turnover amount is slightly higher than the Sunday's turnover of Rs. 3.017 Arba.
Shares of the SuryaJyoti Life Insurance Company Limited (SJLIC) traded the most and had the highest turnover of Rs. 17.65 crores. The market price of SJLIC has reached at Rs. 519.80 per share.
Likewise, the shares of Lumbini General Insurance Co. Ltd. (LGIL) and Adarsha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ADLB) gained the highest by 10 percent each and hit the positive circuit.
On the other side, the shares of the United IDI Mardi RB Hydropower Limited (UMRH) lost the highest by 7.14 percent.
All the 13 sector indices closed red. Selling pressures were witnessed from the very beginning. Hotel and Tourism sector indices lost the highest by 3.61 percent while the Life Insurance sector indices lost the least by 1.10 percent.
