Kathmandu, Nepal, May 30, 2022: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has declined by 2.26 percent in the first trading day of the week on Monday. The NEPSE has closed at 2,173.44 points after losing 50.33 points from last trading day's closing. 

The massive decline of share market is taken as a reaction against the budget presented by the government for the upcoming fiscal year 2022/023 on Sunday. The government had brought nothing in the budget to address the grievances of the secondary market investors of the share market.  

The NEPSE index that was opened at 2,227.43 points made intraday high at 2,233.54 points and closed at 2,173.44 points, the intraday low points of Monday.

A total of 3,456,529 shares of 227 scrips were traded via 26,949 transactions making Rs. 1.338 Arba as the turnover amount. This is higher than last trading day's turnover of Rs. 1.298 Arba.

Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) made the highest turnover of Rs. 4.96 crores and closes at a market price of Rs. 935 while the shares of Century Commercial Bank Ltd. Promoter Share (CCBLPO) traded the most.

Balephi Hydropower Limited (BHL) gained highest 9.99 percent technically hitting the positive circuit while the Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIB) lost the highest by 9.99 percent. The stalled share of the NIB was opened from Monday after about one year. 

All the 13 sector indices closed red. Trading sector indices lost the highest by 3.22 percent while the Hotels and Tourism sector indices lost the least by 1.38 percent.
