Kathmandu , The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has appointed Ramkrishna Lamichhane as the new Director General of the Department of Tourism.
According to ministry sources, Tourism Minister and Prime Minister Sushila Karki made the appointment through a minister level decision. Lamichhane, who also serves as the ministry's spokesperson and joint secretary, has now been given the responsibility to lead the department.
He is regarded as a young, capable, and determined administrator with notable experience in the tourism sector. Officials within the ministry describe him as a diligent officer who brings both administrative expertise and sectoral knowledge to the role.
The position had remained vacant since October 9, after the transfer of former Director General Dr. Narayan Prasad Regmi to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). Dr. Regmi has since been stationed at the commission's Pokhara office.
Lamichhane's appointment is expected to give new momentum to the department's efforts in strengthening Nepal's tourism administration and promoting the country's image as a key destination.
