Kahmandu, Nepal: Resident doctors at the Institute of Medicine (IoM) have decided to boycott Out-patient Department (OPD) service from Friday in support of the ongoing hunger strike of Dr Govinda KC.
National Resident Doctors Association on Thursday announced that resident doctors of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) would not step in the Outpatient Department (OPD) from Friday.
Resident Doctors at TUTH have made the decision in the mean time when health condition of Dr. KC is worsening further. Dr KC is in hunger strike since last 12 days putting forth six-point demands including appointment of dean at IoM on the basis of seniority.
The association has requested all the faculties, doctors, nurses and employees to support the move claiming that the decision was taken with intent to save the life of Dr KC.
With the decision hundreds of patients at the TUTH would suffer from getting health facilities. Data shows that about 1,600 patients have been getting healthcare service everyday at the TUTH.
