Kathmandu, Nepal: The Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, has on Tuesday ordered the government to halt any types of investigations on DIG Nawaraj Silwal until the final verdict.
A full bench of Justices Jagadish Sharma Poudel, Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada and Tej Bahadur KC has made the ordered to terminate any further investigation, suspension or launch of the case against DIG Silwal relating the IGP case.
Following the government’s directives the Nepal Police had been investigating on DIG Silwal alleging him for tampering the classified government documents. Nepal Police had also taken control DIG Silwal bringing him in Police headquarters to record his statement on Monday. He was released following a Supreme Court's order on Monday itself.
As DIG Silwal is a contender for the post of police chief, he had moved to the court challenging to the government decision for not appointing him as the IGP.
The SC has fixed the date of final hearing of the IGP case registered by DIG Silwal on May 2.
